Upon returning home, they were called to work in the Logan Temple. They were truly enjoying this experience when Wayne suddenly died of heart failure on November 2, 1993. This was quite a shock to Merle, but she was determined to finish the 2 year term of their calling, after which she sold her home in Tremonton and moved to Woods Cross where she would be close to the Family History Library to work on genealogy, which was one of the loves of her life. While living here she compiled a history of Wayne's ancestors and the history of Wayne, which he had written.
