Called to Serve in Barbados, West Indies

Merle and Wayne were called to the West Indies Mission and left in July 1991, returning home in time for Christmas in December 1992. They were called to serve in the office where Wayne was in charge of the transporation of the missionaries and Merle the bookkeeping. After office hours, they worked in the Blackrock branch, where Wayne was set apart as Branch President. More than three-fourths of the members were black and the majority women and children. Merle says it was a wonderful learning experience. Toward the end of their mission Wayne was assigned to audit the Mission books and they had the privilege of visiting some of the islands in the mission. The mission had both English and French speaking islands.
